About Gitchi-Gami Goats

In 2021, It all started as four 'less naughty' goats to help with brush and balsam removal. Enjoying their antics and personalities, it quickly evolved into more. Realizing that the next closest, high quality myotonic (fainting) goats were all easily 2+ hours away from the north shore of Lake Superior, the Gitchi-Gami Goat herd was created. Focusing on health, quiet temperaments and the myotonic breed standard, Gitchi-Gami Goats strive for sturdy stock, with a splash of flash, who are adapted to a northern climate. We take pride in their versatility as active foragers, market/show potentials and gentle family companions.

We consider fainting goats the ultimate addition to any homestead.

When forage is available, the herd is rotated though forest browse and Silvopasture. We annually test our herd at 1 year of age and up for CL, CAE & Johnes using WADDL and strictly follow veterinarian guided health care protocols. Herd Test results available upon request. We vaccinate annually for CD&T, provide external parasite control and deworm using FAMACHA scoring.
